Homework 7

Due by classtime on Week 9.

1. Imagine a standard business letter. If you were developing an XML DTD for business correspondence, how would you divide the parts of a letter into XML elements? (Specify whether some elements would nest inside others.) For example, when we imagined a DTD for a dramatic play, we identified the cast list, the title, the setting, the spoken dialogue, etc., and we specified that character names should nest inside cast lists.

2. What are some reasons you might you choose to mark up a document as XML, rather than putting the data into a CSV?

3. Assume this file structure. If I were in the folder jon, what would I type into the shell in order to move up to the admin folder?

4. What is the absolute path of the folder called jon? (Giant hint!)

Submit via BruinLearn, as a document or an entry in the text box.
