OpenRefine

The dataset assigned to my group has to do with the Williams College Museum of Arts. The research questions that we came up with want to examine and inspect the artwork that is in the museum comparatively using different topics (i.e. time period, culture the art derives from). Thus, OpenRefine would indeed help in the evaluation of these questions since it categorizes data. But, the data that resulted from our dataset differed a lot from the data that came up when working with the data from the tutorial. The data then might need to be worked on, like the vocabulary, since the art has such specific and complex categories and descriptions. The overall information about the artworks must be broken-down more, so that we can examine the contrast between the artworks relating to time periods as well of places of origin of the works.  Our group discussed formatting our data into a map consisting of artworks scattered around in accordance to the place of origin, and learning how to make that work cohesively with the project would be something I want to learn how to do.
