Character Connections: Three Friends in a Hammock

I read the short story, “Three Friends in a Hammock” by April Ayres Lawson.  Only two of the characters in the story were actually given names to call them by, so I used short descriptions to label the other characters.  I determined that two characters were connected if they had been in the presence of one another.  Upon connecting the characters within this story, I found that the network graph illuminated the small circle of intertwined friends.  There is a noticeable extension of people outside of the circle since one of the friends was telling a story about her other friend, which nobody else knew.  Although this network visualization displays all of the characters within the story and shows the connections between them, the network does not display the depths to which each person knows the other.
