Data Critique Guidelines

Due Friday, November 3, by 11:55 p.m.

Length: Approximately 600 words

Your data critique should explain fully what information is included in your dataset, what information, events, or phenomena your dataset can illuminate, and what your dataset cannot. Describe how the data was generated, what the original sources are, and what information is left out of the spreadsheet. You should also give your account of the ideological effects of the way in which your sources have been divided into data (i.e., your dataset’s ontology). If your dataset were your only source, what information would be left out? Be sure to speak in detail and not in generalizations.
