In this tutorial, you\u2019ll upload a spreadsheet containing the data we created on our Omeka site (which you can find\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dropbox.com\/s\/b8g3aoha0wv28s0\/is289omeka.csv?dl=0\">here<\/a>) and use it to create a map and some charts.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"LessonStep top\">\n<h3 class=\"StepTitle\">Open Google Fusion Tables<\/h3>\n<div class=\"StepImage\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miriamposner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/media_1432585078208.png\" alt=\"media_1432585078208.png\" width=\"540\" height=\"359\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"StepInstructions\">\n<p>Go to <a href=\"http:\/\/fusiontables.google.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fusiontables.google.com<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"LessonStep top\">\n<h3 class=\"StepTitle\">Click on \u201cCreate a Fusion Table\u201d and sign in with your Google account. For\u00a0<strong>Separator Character<\/strong>, keep the options as they are (with\u00a0<strong>Comma\u00a0<\/strong>selected) and then click\u00a0<strong>Next<\/strong>. If you look closely, you&#8217;ll see that Fusion Tables has highlighted the data in the first column (the &#8220;title&#8221; data). Although you don&#8217;t have any way of knowing this, I happen to know that this is because Fusion Tables thinks that this is your location data. But we know that&#8217;s wrong!<\/p>\n<h3>Change the location column<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/miriamposner.com\/classes\/is289s18\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2018\/05\/Screen-Shot-2018-05-22-at-12.51.06-PM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-99\" src=\"http:\/\/miriamposner.com\/classes\/is289s18\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2018\/05\/Screen-Shot-2018-05-22-at-12.51.06-PM-269x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"334\" srcset=\"https:\/\/miriamposner.com\/classes\/is289s18\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2018\/05\/Screen-Shot-2018-05-22-at-12.51.06-PM-269x300.png 269w, https:\/\/miriamposner.com\/classes\/is289s18\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2018\/05\/Screen-Shot-2018-05-22-at-12.51.06-PM.png 568w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Scroll to the right on your table until you see the &#8220;Spatial Coverage&#8221; column. If you hover your mouse on the column heading, you&#8217;ll see a drop-down menu appears when you click the arrow. From that menu, click on <strong>Change<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Then, in the next window, choose\u00a0<strong>Location<\/strong> as the type. Leave all the other options the same and click the\u00a0<strong>Save<\/strong> button. Change the\u00a0<strong>Location<\/strong> column to &#8220;Spatial Coverage&#8221; and then click on\u00a0<strong>Resume Geocoding.\u00a0<\/strong>When the geocoding completes, you should have a map of museums. You can click on each of the points to see which photo was taken there. Just click on the\u00a0<strong>Share\u00a0<\/strong>button and share the map the same way you\u2019d share a Google doc. Check the\u00a0<strong>Summarize data\u00a0<\/strong>checkbox.
