%20management%3A%201%29%20structured%20data%20fields%20optimized%20for%20capture%20and%20portability%20within%20organizations%3B%202%29%20increased%20legibility%20of%20activity%20qua%20data%20captured%20inside%20and%20outside%20the%20workplace%3B%203%29%20information%20asymmetry%20between%20labor%20and%20management%3B%204%29%20an%20%5Cu2018ecosystem%5Cu2019%20design%20that%20supports%20the%20development%20of%20limited-use%20applications%20for%20specific%20domains%3B%20and%205%29%20the%20standardization%20of%20managerial%20techniques%20between%20workplaces.%20These%20combine%20to%20create%20a%20managerial%20frame%20for%20workers%20as%20fungible%20human%20capital%2C%20available%20on%20demand%20and%20easily%20ported%20between%20job%20tasks%20and%20organizations.%20While%20outlining%20the%20origin%20of%20platform%20studies%20within%20media%20and%20communication%20studies%2C%20we%20demonstrate%20the%20specific%20tools%20the%20sociology%20of%20work%20brings%20to%20the%20study%20of%20platforms%20within%20the%20workplace.%20We%20conclude%20by%20suggesting%20avenues%20for%20future%20sociological%20research%20not%20only%20on%20hiring%20platforms%2C%20but%20also%20on%20other%20work%20platforms%20such%20as%20those%20supporting%20automated%20scheduling%20and%20customer%20relationship%20management.%22%2C%22genre%22%3A%22SSRN%20Scholarly%20Paper%22%2C%22repository%22%3A%22Social%20Science%20Research%20Network%22%2C%22archiveID%22%3A%223248675%22%2C%22date%22%3A%222018-09-12%22%2C%22DOI%22%3A%22%22%2C%22citationKey%22%3A%22%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%5C%2F%5C%2Fbruinlearn.ucla.edu%5C%2Fcourses%5C%2F206185%5C%2Fassignments%5C%2F1772628%22%2C%22language%22%3A%22en%22%2C%22collections%22%3A%5B%22788MWHLX%22%5D%2C%22dateModified%22%3A%222025-03-29T03%3A21%3A38Z%22%7D%7D%5D%7D
