If you fulfill all the criteria below, you will receive an A for this assignment. If you do not fulfill the criteria, I’ll ask you to resubmit.

Description

For the solo annotation assignment, you carefully read a number of additional essays. In 500 to 750 words, please write an essay that loosely weaves them together, in the following way:

In an introductory paragraph, please describe a theme that you believe encompasses all three of the essays.

Next, briefly summarize the main argument of each essay you read. (Try to keep the summary to one or two sentences per essay.)

Then, address both of the following questions:

1. How did the additional essays you read augment, challenge, or complement the essays we read for class? Did they sharpen your understanding of an issue, fill in a missing piece, or raise a complication you hadn’t thought about? Cite specific authors and refer to annotations you made to the additional essays.
2. How did the additional essays complement, augment, or challenge our class discussions? Please be specific about what was discussed, the context, and how the additional essays relate to the discussion. (To cite a class discussion, just describe the topic we discussed and paraphrase the points raised in class; you don’t need to be too formal.)
