Weekly reading responses

Every week, by class time, you should post a reading response to the class discussion board.

Choose something you’ve encountered in your everyday life. It could be anything — a billboard, a movie you saw, an interaction with a friend. Explain how it relates to one (or all) of the readings for the week. (So, for example, as you prepare for Week 2 of class, you should write about the readings for Week 2.) Describe the artifact in detail, tell us why you chose it, and help us understand what it has to do with the reading you discuss. If you can, provide a link!

Challenge yourself to go a little deeper than you might at first be inclined. Beyond the surface resemblances, do the reading and the artifact share structural similarities? For example, is the article describing an economic force that is in evidence in the movie you saw?

These assignments won’t receive letter grades; instead, they’ll be marked as either “complete,” “incomplete,” or (if the response doesn’t meet the parameters of the assignment) “revise and resubmit.” If the latter, you have a week to revise your post and resubmit it.
