It shows the different categories in which the dataset has been divided into and the view of who created and organized it. It also states, “Peoples reclaim ways of knowing by documenting and preserving knowledge artifacts through library, museum, and archival practices, and through consistent interaction within tribal communities.” This is another way they gain data for these datasets. The dataset I chose to review is the Building and Safety Permit. This is about permits for construction, remolding, and repair of building and structures in Los Angles. These permits are broken into categorize for buildings, electrical, and mechanical permits. Sometimes, permits can even be issued on the same day with express. On the other hand, it may take a few days because the permit needs to be reviewed. This also displays the permit types that have been used over the past five years. This gives us great knowledge of what permits are being used more and more. There are also seven different columns in this dataset which are: Assessor Book, Assessor page, Assessor Parcel, Tract, Block, Lot, and Reference #. The point of view that this ontology makes most sense to would be anyone in the construction business or building and management business. This would give them information on what needs to be done in order to receive a permit before building on a certain piece of property. What this dataset tells me about this particular topic is how many permits have been released to each category. It lets me know about the safety code for the building in order to get a permit. This also shows us which areas in Los Angles are using the most construction and how they are using it. What gets left out of this dataset is how they got the permit. They do not tell us how they got the permit and what process they had to use. They also don’t give much information about the buildings themselves and which ones received an express permit and which ones did not. If I were to start over the ontology to someone else’s point of view, I would do it from a local neighbor who was by the construction of the new building. I would see how they feel about the buildings and how safe it was. I would like to see what their thoughts on the process were and how the construction made them feel.

As stated in the Duarte article, ontology is an organizational strategy for dividing information into data.
