The glorification I guess of liking, being attracted to, and dating a stereotype that so often is used negatively. I hate to say that but this has been the overarching sentiment that I get from the culture and people around me. I agree with you in that this really shouldn’t make a news story, we cannot know or predetermine why people date anyone else. The experience is personal so there will never be a universal truth or trend towards defining why some people are attracted to others. I read an article that said on most online websites people go for white people than people of their same ethnicity/skin color. I don’t know where they got these stats but it was conniving in the story. I’m not saying I agree or not but it is definitely something interesting to consider. At the end of the day I imagine people more often go with others with similar backgrounds to them. A mutual understanding of one another probably leads to a more comfortable relationship, but again, this is just mere speculation.

They really are beautiful things, considering the stigmatization of them in the past. However, I think this Twitter account and other similar platforms is probably not the best way to celebrate such a phenomenon. Yes, I admit I found some of them funny and/or entertaining. However, I can see how it can also be offensive and problematic. I feel like these kinds of platforms highlight or accentuate the differences in the wrong way, which is something we should realize as a society that hopes to eliminate racism.

Although there are many celebrities that fall into this “jungle fever” catergory, as Nataly was saying, this concept has been alive and well for quite sometime. I really hate that this is even a thing though, like what exactly is being suggested? Jungle could ensue many things, wildness or adventurous, however there are images and stereotypes that carry with this term. I don’t think “multi-racial” relationships really need to be defined, or labeled. The combinations of cultures and traditions that are formed in these spaces are beautiful. Of course people have a “taste” but I do not think a true partnership should be limited by a skin tone or a biological catergory. There is so much more to a person than meets the eye.

Sure, there are people who must only prefer to date certain races but I do not believe this is prominent. Interracial marriages are everywhere now and I think it is inevitable in the future.
