For the second museum visit I visited the Getty Museum. This was my visit first to the Getty and I was amazed at everything about this museum. The architecture and layout of the museum was astonishing, not to forget the amazing views of Los Angeles.

When I reached the museum via tram I was taken away that a 5 minute tram ride up the side of a mountain is what would bring me to and from my destination.  I entered the museum through the main lobby, after some direction from one of the museum staffers. After realizing how big the museum was I decided it was in my best interest to grab a map. I started off on the second floor where I was greeted with Victorian style paintings and statues. Visitors in these galleries moved painting to painting spending about an average of 10 seconds on each. There was no form of technology used during this portion of the museum which I assume is due to the timeframe of the origins of the paintings. The mood of the gallery was very dim. The museum was very hard to navigate especially due to its size.

The next floor featured artifacts such as silverware and dinner plates in addition to full size rooms modeled with artifacts to depict day to day Victorian life. The rooms were grand and seem to bring these visitors to life as they imagined living in these big extravagant rooms. These rooms also featured floor to ceiling mirror that everybody seemed to be taking selfies in. These rooms were decorated with porcelain and furniture that really set the time period.  Located in the back room there were about 10 iPads that were set up which featured some of the missing artifacts from the display. Through the iPads the user could learn more about the artifact such what materials they were made out of and or the origins. This section was practically empty as people seemed to skip right by it. I noticed that once I actually tried the technology I lost interest very very quickly. The iPad was slow and had many glitches which after walking around the exhibits for so long my patiences was diminished and I just continued observing to see whether the next group of people would make their way into the exhibit. Very very few did and if they did they did not spend that much time or use the iPad.

Due to the size of the museum I feel like their were a lot of exhibition that I did not get to experience. I wanted to visit turning “Breaking News:Turning the lens on Mass Media” but did not get the change to see it.
