In this week’s blog post, I created a network of two suburban girl friends, Liv and Fern and a number of their connections: friends, family members, and lovers. The graph shoes all of the interconnections between Liv and Fern. Liv and Fern are at the center with the largest nodes because they have the most connections in the story.<\/p>\n

In this network, there are characters that Liv and Fern know of but aren’t personally connected to them such as the tennis players, which is why they are not connected to them.<\/p>\n

The labels in the network were created based on exactly how it was written in the story such as Sebastian or Liv’s Father. Sebastian for all an outsider may know is a brother or a lover. An outsider would be able to tell that Liv’s Father is actually Liv’s Father because that is how it was written in the story, thus that is how it was labeled but not every label lays it out as clearly. \u00a0The network does not depict the physical relationship, just the name of someone. One can see who is connected but he or she can not understand all of the different relationships unless they read the story.<\/p>\n
