The dataset contains several metadata about the photograph collection such as the title, creation date, medium, data acquired, width, height and some background information about the photographer.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve considered a couple of ways that we can manipulate the dataset in order to make sense of the meaningful behind it;<\/p>\n<ol type=\"1\">\n<li value=\"1\">Sorting out the title of the art work and it&#8217;s photographer<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>In my database, the title of the art work and the name of the photographer are lumped together in one column. Luckily, there&#8217;s another &#8220;role&#8221; column, which allows us to single out the name of the photographer and put it in another column.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol type=\"1\">\n<li value=\"2\">Computing the area of the photographs<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>We want to create another &#8220;area&#8221; column from the &#8220;width&#8221; and &#8220;height&#8221; column. We can do some simple multiplication operation to achieve this. It will be helpful for us to see how the size of the photograph has changed over time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol type=\"1\">\n<li value=\"3\">Removing the diameter column<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Using the &#8220;text facet&#8221; function of OpenRefine, all the entries for the &#8220;diameter&#8221; column is zero. Hence it will make sense to delete this column.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol type=\"1\">\n<li value=\"4\">Separating the starting and ending date<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>In the &#8220;creation date&#8221; column, there are instances where a range of year is registered. We think it will be helpful to separate it out into starting and ending date.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The dataset also provides the url link to the actual image of the photograph.
