This week I decided to explore \u201cCollection of Heavy Metal Music Material<\/a>\u201d, a collection of heavy metal music published and archived between 1964 and 2016. Heavy metal is a genre under rock music that started to emerge in the 1960s, and there are multiple divisions of heavy metal. This archive is divided into six series including books, DVDs, photographs, magazines, records and more.<\/p>\n

The narratives I can tell based on the materials in this collection, is that heavy metal was relatively popular in the 1980s, and it was especially vibrant on the Sunset Strip, and in the Los Angeles and West Hollywood areas. We can easily listen to how heavy metal has developed the last, almost 60 years, and how the design of t-shirts, and fliers has developed. If we really look into it we can even see how photo and video quality has developed as many bands made DVDs.<\/p>\n

This collection has a variety of information and we can look in dept about the bands, however, there is some information missing. Basic background information about the bands can only be found by those bands that wrote books, and some information can maybe be found in DVDs or magazines, but that would be limited. It also does not give us any information about smaller bands that may not have been very popular or did not publish any works. There is also very limited with information about bands outside the California area. There is also no information about how the raising popularity of heavy metal affected the popularity of other genres if it did.<\/p>\n

In order to gather the information to fill the gaps of missing narratives, it can be explored if there are other archives containing this missing information. If not we will need to find other interviews or newspaper articles, or we have to go straight to the source and get the information from the band.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
