You\u2019ll then need to put these documents on your group\u2019s server so that they\u2019re accessible on the web. To do this, we\u2019ll zip up your documents and upload them to your group\u2019s server.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"LessonStep top\">\n<h3 class=\"StepTitle\">Get your files ready<\/h3>\n<div class=\"StepImage\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miriamposner.com\/dh101f15\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/media_1446155403260.png\" alt=\"media_1446155403260.png\" width=\"383\" height=\"168\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"StepInstructions\">\n<p>Once you\u2019ve created your HTML and CSS documents, put them inside a folder on your computer. Give the folder a really short, easy to spell name. The folder name will be part of the URL!<\/p>\n<p>Now <strong>compress<\/strong> your folder, with everything inside it, by right-clicking on the folder icon and selecting <strong>Zip<\/strong> or <strong>Compress<\/strong>. You should see a new icon called <strong>nameofyourfolder.zip.<\/strong> That puts everything in a nice, neat, easy-to-upload package.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"LessonStep top\">\n<h3 class=\"StepTitle\">Log into your group\u2019s server<\/h3>\n<div class=\"StepImage\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miriamposner.com\/dh101f15\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/media_1446154476621.png\" alt=\"media_1446154476621.png\" width=\"540\" height=\"368\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"StepInstructions\">\n<p><strong>Cpanel<\/strong> is the name of the software that allows you to control the files on your server. Log into your group\u2019s cPanel by going to yourgroup\u2019sURL\/cpanel.<\/p>\n<p>You can also get to cPanel by logging in to your Reclaim Hosting account and clicking on the <strong>cPanel<\/strong> tab.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"LessonStep top\">\n<h3 class=\"StepTitle\">Open the File Manager<\/h3>\n<div class=\"StepImage\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miriamposner.com\/dh101f15\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/media_1446155015753.png\" alt=\"media_1446155015753.png\" width=\"540\" height=\"448\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"StepInstructions\">\n<p>You can find the File Manager on cPanel\u2019s Home page, about two-thirds of the way down the page. If a pop-up window asks you where you want to be taken, select <strong>web root<\/strong>. The web root is the folder, called <strong>public_html<\/strong>, that contains all of the files that the server will automatically \u201cbroadcast\u201d to the internet.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"LessonStep top\">\n<h3 class=\"StepTitle\">What\u2019s this?<\/h3>\n<div class=\"StepImage\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miriamposner.com\/dh101f15\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/media_1446155195206.png\" alt=\"media_1446155195206.png\" width=\"540\" height=\"286\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"StepInstructions\">\n<p>This is your server\u2019s <strong>File Manager, <\/strong>which contains all of the documents you\u2019ve uploaded to your server. (Yours will probably have way less stuff in it!) It works just like files on your own computer: you can put things in folders, take them out of folders, copy them, move them, and delete them.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"LessonStep top\">\n<h3 class=\"StepTitle\">Upload your zipped-up folder<\/h3>\n<div class=\"StepImage\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miriamposner.com\/dh101f15\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/media_1446221397907.png\" alt=\"media_1446221397907.png\" width=\"540\" height=\"250\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"StepInstructions\">\n<p>Click on <strong>Upload<\/strong> at the top of your file manager. In the window that opens, leave the options as they are and choose the <strong>zipped<\/strong> version of the folder that contains your documents.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"LessonStep top\">\n<h3 class=\"StepTitle\">Go back home<\/h3>\n<div class=\"StepImage\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miriamposner.com\/dh101f15\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/media_1446221876895.png\" alt=\"media_1446221876895.png\" width=\"540\" height=\"408\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"StepInstructions\">\n<p>When the status bar at the bottom of the window says <strong>Complete<\/strong>, click on the <strong>Back to home<\/strong> link.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"LessonStep top\">\n<h3 class=\"StepTitle\">Find your folder<\/h3>\n<div class=\"StepImage\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miriamposner.com\/dh101f15\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/media_1446221943323.png\" alt=\"media_1446221943323.png\" width=\"540\" height=\"528\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"StepInstructions\">\n<p>Once you\u2019re back at your file manager, find and click on the zipped file you just uploaded.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"LessonStep top\">\n<h3 class=\"StepTitle\">Extract the folder<\/h3>\n<div class=\"StepImage\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miriamposner.com\/dh101f15\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/media_1446222033053.png\" alt=\"media_1446222033053.png\" width=\"540\" height=\"469\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"StepInstructions\">\n<p>With your zipped folder selected, click on <strong>Extract<\/strong>. (Extract is just another way of saying \u201cunzip.\u201d) Leave the options as they are in the windows that follow and click <strong>OK<\/strong> and then <strong>Close<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Hey, guess what? You\u2019re done!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"LessonStep top\">\n<h3 class=\"StepTitle\">Where\u2019s my webpage?<\/h3>\n<div class=\"StepImage\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miriamposner.com\/dh101f15\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/media_1446222410886.png\" alt=\"media_1446222410886.png\" width=\"469\" height=\"244\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"StepInstructions\">\n<p>The URL to the webpage you just uploaded will look like this: <strong>http:\/\/www. theURLofyourgroup\u2019ssite\/thefolderyouuploaded\/<\/strong>\u00a0You did it!
